Cleaning the Tank

With the abundance of rain, Joe and I decided to clean out the tank where we store our drinking water. As with so many of the country living projects that we embark upon, we had never done this before and had no idea of how to do it. But with a bit of gumption and instructions from the internet, we got to work. Once the tank (pictured above) was mostly empty and the sides cleaned, the project stalled as we couldn't get the last of the murky water out of the tank. Just then, a curious neighbor came over to see what we were up to and said, "Too bad that you don't have a sump pump."  Well, Joe mulled on that one and then went to the barn to poke around amid all of the art supplies and garden tools. Guess what? We have a sump pump, left by the previous owners and tucked away in case we needed it. After pumping the last of the turbid water out with it, we were left with a clean tank that we refilled overnight with fresh spring water.

To be alive is to continue to grow and learn. It doesn't matter how old you are; you can start something new. You might not know exactly what you are doing and you might even fail, but at least you would have tried. And you never know; maybe someone will say precisely the thing that you need to hear at just the right moment. Or you might already have exactly what you need tucked away under the debris of what you already know how to do.
