Change The Station
I have been thinking about the instruction to relax the mind. As if it were so easy! Everyone feels stuck now and then. Even Tiger the cat gets into moods.
The other day, I was in a yoga posture with my leg extended out behind me, and Tiger bit my big toe! He didn't break the skin, but it did rather startle me. I think he must have been feeling a little grumpy that day. I can't imagine that telling him to "relax his mind" or to "practice letting go" would have helped at all.
Do you know what does help? Creative redirection of energy and attention. It is like changing the station on the radio to tune into a different song. Maybe the song that is playing is an old one that you are tired of singing along to. Change the station!
