Bend So You Don’t Break
Recently, I have been thinking about the phrase "to re-enchant the world". When I first arrived here in Northern California at the Refuge at Pudding Creek (it will be five years on Halloween!) life and the world felt enchanted and sacred, full of awe and respect. But now, I have put down roots, become habituated and life feels more mundane. Plus there is so much to worry about - climate change, war, and politics. The 'honeymoon' is over and my inspiration is wobbly. Can you relate?
When things become wearisome or when feeling disconnected, it becomes a sacred mission to re-enchant the world through yoga, meditation, creating art, and re-remembering the bigger picture. We can devote ourselves to remember the inter-being of living creatures on this earth which is just another way of talking about the enchanted mystery of life and this world. So I will teach yoga and mindfulness, turn the compost, pick the sun warmed ripening blackberries, and email you all as actions of awakening. What are you devoted to? Action in alignment with purpose becomes devotion and re-enchants the world.
