Your Inner Critic Called—It’s Time for a Timeout!
Last Friday, during a mindfulness meditation class, a woman sheepishly admitted to having a mind filled with self-criticism. The thing is, almost every time I teach meditation, someone will ruefully fess up to this problem. Then, I'll ask if anyone else can relate. Most everyone will raise their hand.
A disparaging inner voice makes life harder than it already is! Maybe you think that you can't meditate because the inner critic is so very loud for you. Your mind might even tell you that you are a hopeless case and that you might as well not even try (anything, whether it is meditation or a new hobby like stand-up paddle board).
Don't be fooled! You don't have to believe everything that you think. With mindfulness, we gain perspective and learn methods to support the poor exhausted mind.
This creates inner freedom and choice.
Let's set ourselves free.
